This is a great picture. It has a great balance of order and chaos. The circles and the lines spreading out and then there is the spotches of rust and dirt....very cool.

*ignorant Heidi googles Heidegger* I'm beginning to feel I am in school again..... I obviously did not take enough philosophy classes, I was too caught up in biology..... "what is the meaning of being?" where to begin
He sounds like a real ponderer.... ;)

Well, a new Heideggerian student! :D What is truly amazing about his philosophical perspective ---which is not easy to understand at times----- is that it deals with the temporal foundation of all human beings. If one tends to think that time is what one sees in a ticking watch, then one is deluded as to the most fundamental aspect of our humanity. Temporality leads us to our core as finite beings who from birth are projected towards their demise. For Heidegger becoming aware of this means gaining consciouness. Hope this helps my dear Oceanpeace. Let me know how your studies go. :-)

I hope now, when you look at this rusting photograph, you will see your own temporality in motion.

(By the way, it is no coincidence that Eastern philosophy ---as I know it is of interest to you--- has seen in Heidegger a way to bridge West and East.)

OK, I must tell you. It is a flying saucer ---do people even use this word anymore?--- that has come for you Oceanpeace. :-)

Thanks for you wonderful commentary. I love the idea you have pointed out of the balance between order and chaos. Perhaps out of disorder there may arise new types of ordering which will end up being much more interesting and beautiful. :D
